Asmongold Speaks Out on Hellblade 2’s Lack of Promotion

Asmongold, a prominent streamer and gamer, has expressed his disappointment and frustration with Microsoft’s lack of promotion for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. The game, developed by Xbox Game Studio Ninja Theory Ltd, was released on May 21, 2024, but has failed to gain traction due to Microsoft’s apparent lack of marketing efforts.

A ‘Disaster’ of a Launch and The Game’s Poor Player Count

Asmongold believes that Microsoft’s failure to promote the game has led to its poor launch and low player count. He stated, “I feel like Microsoft did a great job making sure that nobody cared about this by not talking about it at all. And I don’t think they really promoted it at all, like I never heard anything about this game coming out.” This lack of promotion has resulted in a peak player count of only around 3,800 on Steam, according to HIM

Asmongold’s Thoughts on the Game’s Length

Asmongold also expressed his disappointment in the game’s length, which he feels is too short. He noted that the developer had promised a runtime of roughly nine hours but found that most playthroughs on YouTube were only five hours long. He stated, “Like, I’mma be real, like, I feel like we’re going to be getting a notification pretty soon that another studio is going to be closed… All I’m saying is like, I feel like this is really bad.”

The Future of the Studio

Asmongold’s comments have sparked concerns about the future of the studio, with some speculating that it may be closed due to the game’s poor performance. This would be a significant loss for the gaming industry, as Ninja Theory Ltd has developed several critically acclaimed games, including the original Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.

In conclusion, Asmongold’s criticism of Microsoft’s promotion of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 highlights the importance of marketing and promotion in the gaming industry. The game’s poor launch and low player count serve as a reminder that even great games need proper promotion to succeed. We can only hope that Microsoft will take Asmongold’s comments to heart and make a greater effort to promote their games in the future.
